Call for Applicants for Co-Editor Position for WLN

WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship is recruiting for two Co-Editors to join a highly collaborative team committed to supporting new and more experienced writing centers scholars and practitioners as they submit and revise their articles for publication. Co-Editor work will begin in the fall of 2023 with a period of apprenticeship under the guidance of the current co-editors. The time commitment is between 3-5 hours per week. This includes reading and responding to manuscripts, responding to WLN team email, voting on acceptance/rejection of submissions, and working on other occasional items that come up, and attending monthly team meetings.

Editorial Duties:

● Correspond with authors and reviewers throughout the publication process

● Guide authors with feedback and coaching

● Ensure external blind peer review

● Deliberate with other co-editors for final acceptance for manuscripts.

● Mentor external reviewers

● Collaborate with editorial team to promote the visibility of the journal and other topics that come up occasionally

Additional Duties/Expectations

● Ability to keep accurate records to track where each submission is in the review process

● Willingness to check and respond to email regularly

● Willingness to complete some work over the summer

Minimum Qualifications:

● Demonstrate an understanding of the current landscape of writing center scholarship

● Have experience publishing in the writing center field and/or have held prior editorial positions

● Demonstrate strong organizational skills

● Demonstrate strong online communication skills
