Survey: Research Study on Teaching Flexibility and Adaptability

Dear Colleagues,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to invite you to participate in my research study exploring the concepts of flexibility and adaptability in teaching. This study aims to understand your perspectives and experiences as a teacher, specifically focusing on situations where flexibility and adaptability have played significant roles.

As a participant, you will be asked to complete an online survey, which includes demographic questions, multiple-choice questions, and short written responses. The survey should take approximately 10-20 minutes of your time. Please note that your participation is completely voluntary, and you can withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.

Please follow the link to the Qualtrics survey where you can find a detailed overview of the project – https://iup.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_a3JEFsBT4L6pFH0

In addition, if you are currently teaching First-Year Writing or English as Additional Language (Academic English in domestic and/or global contexts) courses, I would greatly appreciate it if you could email me (bkvcc) the course syllabi for the relevant courses you are teaching (one from before the COVID-19 pandemic and one from the most recent semester). The syllabi will be analyzed using discourse analysis to identify patterns of flexible and adaptable language. Your participation in this aspect of the study is optional, and you are free to choose whether or not to share your course syllabi.

If you share your course syllabi, rest assured that all personal identifiers will be redacted, and the data will be analyzed in an aggregated and anonymized manner.

Thank you for considering your participation in this research.
