Visiting Faculty of Writing. The Department of Writing at Grand Valley State University seeks to fill a full-time (9-month) Visiting Faculty position beginning August 6, 2023 to teach introductory creative writing and first-year writing courses. A Ph.D. or M.F.A. in creative writing (or related field) is required by time of employment. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in creative writing with evidence of significant publications. Candidates need experience teaching a multi-genre introductory creative writing course as well as first-year writing. Candidates also need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility; creativity and flexibility; and interest in social justice education, inclusion, diversity, and/or intercultural training. This is a one-year, non-tenure track position, with the possibility of renewal up to three years depending on funding and need. This position is designed for candidates planning to seek permanent positions elsewhere. To help Visiting Faculty in their continuing job searches, we provide mentoring, research and conference travel support, and performance reviews.
