Dear CCCC Members,

The rising tides of white supremacy, homophobia, and transphobia and the sanctions that attend them are impacting the ability of BIPOC and Queer members of our profession as well as students to exercise their academic freedom to study, write, and teach without fear of censorship or retribution and to labor in fair, equitable, and safer workplaces.

We write to invite you to an upcoming webinar on October 3 from 2:00–3:00 p.m. ET: “Teaching in Times of Violence: Strategies for Threatened and Targeted Teachers of Writing.” Collaboratively designed and organized by the CCCC Black Caucus and the Social Justice at the Convention Committee, this webinar will directly address the particular threat posed to BIPOC and/including 2SLGBTQ+ scholars of critical race theory and Queer theory by the imposition of “legal” restrictions on curricula, programming, hiring, admission processes, tenure, and promotion.

We urge you to join us for this important webinar. You may register by following the link below and watch for reminders and more information in the coming months.

Register to attend on October 3

With Warmest Regards,

Staci Perryman-Clark, Chair
Frankie Condon, Assistant Chair
