Job: Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at University of Missouri Kansas City

Dear colleagues,

Although not a job for composition and rhetoric, I hope the vast social network of people on the listserv can help spread the word!

Please share the following job post with your creative writing colleagues! I serve on the search committee so I’m happy to take questions privately at antoniobyrd!

TL;DR: The Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Missouri Kansas City is searching for a tenure track assistant professor of creative writing! They will begin August 2024.

We have a BA with a Creative Writing Emphasis and an interdisciplinary MFA. Both programs are growing and thriving! So we’re looking for an applicant who works within and across two or more genres, including poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, hybrid genres, playwriting, and screenwriting who can contribute. Teaching includes creative writing workshops, advising thesis projects, and, as needed, general education courses.

The ideal candidate will be a writer with at least one published book, as well as other distinguished publications, and have experience in teaching undergraduate students. A PhD or MFA in Creative Writing or a closely related field should be completed by the start of the position.
