Rights and Resources for Anti-CRT, Anti-trans, Anti-2SLGBTQ+ Censorship and Workplace, Public, or Social Media Mobbing

Dear CCCCs Friends,

Earlier this summer, I wrote to you of our shared concern for the lives and livelihoods of scholars in composition, rhetoric, and communication who are working in critical race theory (CRT) in the current political climate. I wrote also of our concern that hard-won rights and access (including to gender-affirming healthcare) and opportunities for Queer, Trans, Two Spirit, Gender Non-binary colleagues and students are being rescinded and denied. These sanctions continue to impact the ability of members of our profession and our students to exercise their academic freedom; to study, write, and teach without fear of censorship or retribution; and to labour in fair, equitable, and safer workplaces.

In this message, I want to share with you a resource document on rights and resources for members threatened by Anti-CRT, Anti-trans, Anti-2SLGBTQ+ Censorship and Workplace, Public, or Social Media Mobbing. I want particularly to thank the CCCC Black Caucus, the Social Justice at the Convention Committee, and subcommittee volunteers Mya Poe, Antonio Byrd, Doug Kern, Romeo Garcia, and James Beasley for their support of CCCC members targeted and at-risk in the current political climate, and for their assistance in creating the attached resource document. I hope you will find this useful and will share it widely. Please watch for notices of future events and additional resources.
