The English Department at USF is hiring 3 non-tenure-track Assistant Professors of Instruction for fall 2024, focusing on teaching in our technical and professional writing service courses and our first-year composition program. These are permanent positions starting on August 7, 2024, and we’ll begin reviewing applications on December 11.

DUTIES:

The Department of English invites applications for THREE (3) full time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction positions, teaching primarily in our First-Year Composition and Professional & Technical Communication programs. This is a permanent 9-month, full-time teaching appointment. Teaching load is 4/4 (12 hours per semester). Appointment start date is August 7, 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in English with a focus in Rhetoric and Composition (or related field) by August 7, 2024 from an Accredited institution. 3 years of experience teaching composition and/or professional writing at the college level. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching a range of undergraduate writing courses at various levels
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities
  • Experience teaching with innovative pedagogies
  • Experience in writing program leadership
