The NJCEA 2023 Fall Roundtable
“The Shifting Terrain in Higher Education”
Saturday, October 14, 2023, 10AM- 12PM, Hybrid:
In Person at Seton Hall University, Fahy Hall, rm. 129
Virtual in Zoom (link will be sent prior to the roundtable to those who register)
Please join us for the NJCEA annual Fall Roundtable. There will be two topics of discussion, both of which will inform our spring conference.
“Facing the Challenges of Generative AI”
How are you and your institution addressing the challenges being raised by generative AI, including ethical considerations and policies? How are you handling the use of generative AI in your classes, if at all?
"How Can Literature, Writing, And Language Programs Survive and Even Thrive in These Challenging Times?"
The closing and downsizing of literature, writing, and language programs has become a too-common story these days. What are the signs we need to be watchful for? What can we do, locally and more broadly, to push back against this trend?
Registration is required (scroll to bottom of this page): https://njcea.org/2023-fall-roundtable
There will be a $10 fee for full-time faculty members attending in person to cover refreshments.
There will be no charge for graduate students, part-time faculty, and remote attendees.

“[E]ducation should not be intended to make people comfortable, it is meant to make them think.
Universities should be expected to provide the conditions within which hard thought, and therefore
strong disagreement, independent judgment, and the questioning of stubborn
assumptions, can flourish in an environment of the greatest freedom.” Hanna Holborn Gray
