Dear Colleagues,
The English Department at Utah State University Logan is now accepting applications for a teaching-intensive, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English in Composition Studies with a specialization in emerging technologies, including generative AI, to begin August 2024. Preferred secondary areas also include a broad interest in multimodal and/or digital writing, as well as a clear commitment to inquiry, social justice, student equity, and critical pedagogies. This fully-benefitted position carries a 3-3 teaching load, primarily in composition, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; the position also carries a secondary research load. With the exception of the WPA position, this is the first time in over 20 years that USU is hiring a tenure-track composition specialist, and we’re thrilled to be expanding the program—and contribute to pedagogical conversations connecting emerging technologies to equity and critical pedagogies.
To encourage a wide range of applicants, the initial application requires only a CV, cover letter, and names and email addresses of three references. For guaranteed consideration, applications should be submitted by November 13th. The full job description, as well as information about our department and university, can be found at https://careers-usu.icims.com/jobs/7135/assistant-professor-of-english-in-composition-studies/job.
Beth Buyserie, Director of Composition, and ryan moeller, Professor of Technical Communication and Rhetoric, are co-chairing this committee. They’d be happy to answer any questions about the position at beth.buyserie or rylish.moeller.
