Laura Aull is an Associate Professor and Writing Program Director at the University of Michigan, and Shawna Shapiro is an Associate Professor at Middlebury College. This peer-reviewed article explores how rhetoric, linguistics, and writing intersect and diverge, overlap and interact through a series of three frequently asked questions: “What does linguistics add to rhetorical approaches to writing?
