How should writing instructors move forward with large language models (LLMs)
and generative AI as tools in the composition ecosystem?
In case you missed it: There will be an AWAC workshop this afternoon on AI and
Writing and we hope to continue the conversation here on the WAC-Listserv.
Please reply to this thread with your thoughts on the workshop or on
Generative AI in Writing Classrooms more widely.
AWAC’s Mentoring Committee is delighted to host Dr. Laura Allen and Dr. Gavin
Johnson for a virtual workshop exploring “The Latest Arrival: Reflecting on
Generative AI’s Enrollment in Writing-Intensive Courses.”
As we approach the conclusion of the first full semester during which
generative AI tools have become widely recognized, discussed, and integrated
into certain classrooms, we find ourselves at a fascinating crossroads. Is it
time to integrate AI into writing pedagogy? Our universities have begun
formulating AI policies, while government regulations are still lagging
behind.
Join us as we engage in reflection on the impact of generative AI during the
Fall 2023 term and, together, chart a path forward for writing instructors in
this evolving landscape.
All AWAC members are invited to join us for this workshop on Friday, December
1st, from 4:15-5:15pm Eastern/3:15-4:15pm Central/2:15-3:15pm Mountain/
1:15pm-2:15pm Pacific.
