Nominate: Extended Deadline for Tutor of the Year for SCWCA Conference

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re all getting excited for SCWCA 24! I’m excited to invite nominations to the Tutor of the Year Award–and very pleased to announce that the deadline has been extended to January 3, 2024.

This award recognizes tutors who provide extraordinary service to students, the center, and the campus community.

To be eligible for nomination, tutors must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an undergraduate student, graduate student, faculty member, or staff member who tutors in the writing center
  • Have been a tutor for at least one year
  • Not be a previous recipient of the award
  • Work for an institution in the SCWCA region

To nominate a tutor, please complete this form:
https://forms.gle/Ykhg6htx69XSmJfM6. The form will require you to upload two documents: the tutor’s personal statement and your letter of recommendation.

  • In the personal statement, please ensure the tutor has not used their own name or the name of the institution.
  • In the letter of recommendation, please only use the tutor’s first name. Do not include the name of the institution or the name of your writing center. These omissions will ensure a blind review.

This new form will take the place of the cover letter the previous process required.

The Awards Committee will review all nominations and select a winner. The winner will be announced at the SCWCA conference and will receive a plaque and a cash award of up to $200. All nominees will receive a certificate acknowledging their nomination.

I encourage you to nominate a tutor who has made a significant contribution to your writing center and the campus community. For more information on the Tutor of the Year Award, please visit Outstanding Tutor Award | South Central Writing Centers Association (scwca.net).

I look forward to seeing you all in February!
