Please spread the word to your students who are interested in writing, rhetoric, pedagogy, and language to apply to the MA in Writing, Rhetoric, & Discourse (MAWRD) at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. The MAWRD program features classes in writing pedagogy, rhetoric, teaching ESL writing, and professional and digital writing and is ideal for students seeking to strengthen their knowledge of rhetoric and composition.
Advanced MAWRD students interested in teaching writing may apply to the Teaching Apprenticeship Program through which students teach a section of first-year writing while completing additional coursework and receiving mentoring in writing pedagogy.
The MAWRD program offers fully funded Graduate Assistantships. Successful GA applicants demonstrate interest and experience in teaching writing, tutoring in writing centers, and/or professional and digital writing. The application deadline for GAships is February 15. Non-GAship applications are accepted throughout the year, and students are admitted on a rolling basis quarterly.
