CFP: Undergraduate Research Workshop at C’s

Hi, All –I’m forwarding this call for workshop presenters from Crystal Bickford at Southern New Hampshire University (c.bickford). The text follows:

Call for Co-Presenters

I am working to propose a CCCC’s 1⁄2- or full-day workshop on undergraduate research (UGR), “Mixing it Up: Composing Undergraduate Research Practices into a New Tune,” for spring 2025 in Baltimore, MD, and I am seeking co-presenters.

Your interest in this proposal is greatly appreciated. If you are considering proposing, please send me the following information by Monday, May 27th at c.bickford. (The CCCCs deadline is May 31st.)

• Name and school affiliation
• Brief experience with UGR
• The concept/role within the workshop (specialization)

o Options might include, but are not limited to:

    • Theoretical grounding
    • Case studies
    • Strategic planning
    • Student considerations
    • Ethical considerations
    • Funding; Grant opportunities
    • Student recruitment
    • Workshop mini-sessions on projection creation, mentoring, strategic planning

Please remember that participants should be actively engaged throughout the meeting as a workshop and leave with tangible options for conducting UGR within their own institutions.

Abstract Draft
This explores strategies for effectively integrating undergraduate research (UGR) initiatives within writing studies. Drawing on current scholarship and successful case studies, speakers will provide participants with practical tools and approaches for designing and implementing projects, including project ideation, mentorship strategies, and ethical
considerations. Participants will leave with a concrete action plan for developing and sustaining undergraduate research initiatives in their own writing programs.
