Position Overview

The Department of English is hiring a tenure-track assistant professor with a specialization in the area of Writing Studies and complementary expertise in one or more of the following areas: business and technical writing, community writing/literacy, and digital media studies.

The successful candidate will hold a 100% FTE tenure track appointment in the Department of English as a member of the Writing, Rhetoric, and Literacy (WRL) program, which is a national leader in scholarship and teaching on cultural theories and practices of reading, writing, composing, communicating, consuming, and producing media. The person in this position will maintain a robust research program in writing studies and their area of specialty and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in WRL. This position is part of a strategic hiring plan in WRL designed to support the next generation of cutting-edge writing programming and pedagogy. Joining a faculty with strengths in cultural studies, digital media studies, disability studies, education theory, folklore, linguistics, medical humanities, contemporary rhetorical theory, and science and technology studies, this hire will provide institutional and national leadership in inclusive practices in the teaching of writing and will have a leadership role in the department’s writing programs, which include Writing and Information Literacy in English (WIL-E), Writing in the Themes, Business and Professional Writing, and Technical and Scientific Writing.
