JOB AD: Assistant Professor, Rhetoric, Composition and Writing Studies, Tenure-Track

Oxford College of Emory University, Oxford, Georgia

Description

Emory University’s Oxford College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of English in Rhetoric, Composition, and Writing Studies starting August 2025. We seek a teacher-scholar invested in the liberal arts to teach writing and rhetoric courses to first- and second-year undergraduates. The successful applicant will teach three courses per semester, including first-year writing, first-semester Discovery Seminar, and other rhetoric and writing courses, and will mentor undergraduates through advising, undergraduate research, and other work. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will have a record of ongoing scholarly research, preferably with the potential to involve or mentor students in undergraduate research, and a commitment to serving the Writing and Communication Program, General Education Program, and beyond.

Who We Are
One of Emory University’s four schools partnering in undergraduate education, Oxford College provides 975 first- and second-year students of high academic profile an intensive liberal-arts program for the first two years of their Emory bachelor’s degree. Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory’s original campus in Oxford, Georgia, Oxford College immerses students in a small liberal arts campus community emphasizing discovery, exploration, and reflection both in and beyond the classroom. We are especially interested in candidates with a commitment to working with a diverse student body in an inclusive learning community that values excellence in teaching and close student-faculty interaction. Applications from historically underrepresented populations are particularly welcome.
