Imagine a moveable feast of writing–writers check in at Peter White Library between 4-5pm on Thursday, September 19th. They join a group (or come as a group) of 3-6 writers and walk, drive, or bike to a location where they use place to inspire any kind of writing. Next, each writer says, "My name is ____, and I am a writer," then shares what they have written and the group members simply say, "Thank you." No critique, no praise, just careful listening and gratitude. The group moves to a new place and engages in another round of writing and sharing. And so it continues. Soon the event begins to feel like a musical jam session with writers riffing off each other and inspired by both place and a sense of community. The marathon ends at the Ore Dock with an open mic, a place where we gather together to celebrate our completion of the Marquette Writing Marathon between 7-8pm. There will be some prizes!

This event is co-sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society at NMU and Northern Shores Writing Project at NMU. We ask for a freewill donation to cover the cost of materials, suggesting $10, if possible. All are welcome!
