Survey: Menopause and Teaching

Dear Colleagues,

I am conducting a study on the relationship between menopause and teaching and would very much appreciate your participation. The IRB office at the University of Cincinnati has determined that the study, "Menopause and Teaching," meets the criteria for exemption from IRB review (IRB ID: 2024-0648).

For the purposes of my study, I am using definitions of different stages of menopause developed by Heather Dillaway in “When Does Menopause Occur, and How Long Does It Last?” (2006). Those definitions are as follows:

perimenopause: period leading up to menopause; usually when signs or symptoms like irregular bleeding, hot flashes and insomnia (among others) begin

menopause: the lack of menstruation for at least 12 consecutive months

postmenopause: the point after which a woman has not had a period for 12 months

If you are currently in any stage of menopause (even if you’re not sure which one), you are invited to complete this survey: https://artsciuc.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bITitP6raPTmaR8.

Resulting data will form the basis of a conference presentation and a book chapter. This 27-question survey should take you approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. There will be an opportunity to input your email address if you are willing to be interviewed; however, interviews are entirely voluntary and not a requirement for completing the survey. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly.

Your time and energy are much appreciated!

Best Wishes,

Laura
