Hi TYCA Friends,
The National Council of Teachers of English Convention will be held in Boston on November 21 to 24. Early registration closes on October 16 with an increased price after that date.
TYCA has been working with the College Section Steering Committee to organize teaching-focused events at NCTE. On Thursday, November 21, TYCA members will gather with other postsecondary English teachers for the College Section annual event. TYCA will share some of our awards at that meeting. On Saturday, November 23, TYCA will have three events: a retreat for national and regional TYCA leaders, a TYCA member networking event, and a dual credit/concurrent enrollment workshop co-organized with the College Section Steering Committee. I will send additional information about these events closer to the conference.
The TYCA National Conference will be held on Wednesday, November 9 in Baltimore in connection with the College Conference on Composition and Communication. Proposals have been sent to NCTE for the review process. Acceptances should be available in early December. A complete conference program will be available early next year.
I’m also thrilled to announce that the TYCA Officers are working with Kofi Adisa, the CCCC Program Chair, to plan a full schedule of practical and interactive activities for community college faculty and other open-access English instructors throughout the entire week at CCCC. This means that there will be many different opportunities for TYCA members to engage in conversations and learning experiences with each other throughout the entire week of TYCA and CCCC. You can attend the TYCA Conference and then stay three more days of open-access, teaching-focused programming. A tentative schedule should be available in the next few months.
If you have questions about any of these conference opportunities, you can contact me at joanne.giordano. I’m looking forward to meeting with many of you in person in Boston or Baltimore.
