Only 1/3 of college students report disabilities to their academic institutions, leaving the accommodation needs of the majority unaddressed. With this reluctance to disclose, can Artificial Intelligence (AI) provide a solution?
This talk focuses on free, mainstream AI-enhanced tools that aid in the delivery of visual, auditory, ADHD, motor skill, dyslexic, and neurodiversity accommodations. Key features of browsers (Chrome and Edge), browser extensions, websites, and apps will be discussed.

  • Identify browser features that can be adjusted to enhance accessibility.
  • Locate browser extensions that support student accommodations.
  • List AI-enhanced websites, extensions, and apps with accessibility support.
  • Determine AI tools most appropriate for students’ accommodation needs.

The Presenter
Laura Lacasa Yost is an Instructional Designer at Kirkwood Community College. Her work with AI focuses on the functionality of free AI tools for promoting learner success, digital literacy, and accessibility.
