Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English. This is a tenure-track position, requiring a 24 credit-hour load (typically four courses per semester) of face-to-face introductory composition courses, general education introduction to literature courses, and a range of upper-level courses contributing to majors in English and English Secondary Education. The bulk of the teaching load is in general education, especially freshman composition. The start date is August 1, 2025, although a start date of January 1, 2025 may be considered if mutually agreeable.
Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching, especially in teaching first- and second-year college students, and a strong commitment to professional ethics. Applicants of any specialty will be considered; competence to offer occasional courses in foreign language, theater, African American literature, or creative writing would add to the disciplinary breadth of the department.
Required Education: An earned PhD in English or closely related discipline. An earned MFA may be considered, with demonstrated competence to teach freshman composition.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching undergraduate core courses (composition, introduction to literature).
