I’d like to join or collaborate with a few others on an AI panel for Computers and Writing (May 2025) that focuses on bias in Large Language Models.
The panel might focus on critiques of bias and/or practical/technical ways of addressing it. For my part, I’m interested in a practical/technical approach called Diversity Finetuning (DFT). In a YouTube video they’ve used to promote their work, Runway research is focused on addressing bias in visual representations of people in professional fields. My interest is in rhetorical style, and the ways in which a DFT-inspired dataset can support a broader range of texts than are typically supported by the LLMs with which I’ve worked.

If I can possibly join a panel, or if you are interested in developing one with me, please email me at dmrieder.
Thanks! David
