Event: Registration for GSOLE Virtual Conference “Humans, Non-Humans, and Humanity” Now Open

Hello,

The Global Society of Online Literacy Educators (GSOLE) invites you to register for the eighth annual conference, “Humans, Non-Humans, and Humanity,” which includes asynchronous video presentations available starting February 1 and synchronous Zoom presentations February 6 and 7. Even if you cannot attend live, registration will include access to the conference presentation archives!

As a non-profit organization, we pride ourselves in creating a high quality, affordable, accessible conference experience. Registration for GSOLE members is $10 for students and contingent or emeritus faculty; $20 for full-time instructors, staff, and administrators. GSOLE membership is similarly affordable, ranging from $20 to $50 per year depending on your self-reported professional rank.

High quality teaching starts with a community of teachers and informed pedagogy—no matter the delivery method. As a community, we gather to discuss and respond to the everchanging learning landscapes and technologies, including generative AI tools. We are all online teachers: We all leverage digital and web technologies in teaching, tutoring, and administration. This year, presenters have submitted work that explores the evolving dynamics between human beings, non-human entities, and the broader concept of humanity within the context of online literacy education. This theme encompasses a wide range of topics that explore how AI affords users the ability to act on feelings of goodwill–or on their fears, anxieties, and biases.

This year, our invited plenary speakers include Cat Mahaffey who will present on “From Quills to Quantum: AI and the New Digital Divide” and Sarah Z. Johnson who will present on “Terms of Engagement: Centering a Pedagogy of Hope and Humanity in a Post-GPT World.”

We hope you will consider joining us!

Best,

Amy Cicchino (Sha-keen-o), she/her/hers
