Dear colleagues,
As a faculty member in the Wayne State University English Department and a co-chair of the local host committee for the 2025 Conference on Community Writing, I am writing to share information about the 3-day international Conference on Community Writing, which brings together about 400 scholars, teachers, students, community activists and organizers, writers, and artists who believe in the transformative power of writing for social action.
The Coalition for Community Writing, Wayne State University, and Michigan State University will co-host the biennial conference on October 23-25, 2025 in Detroit, on the Wayne State campus. The conference theme is “Designing Justice Across Space, Place, and Time,” and we’d love to showcase your incredible community-engaged work.
The call for proposals is available on the conference website, along with keynote speaker information and a link to the proposal portal: https://communitywriting.org/conference-on-community-writing/
Please share the conference CFP with your faculty and students. We’re accepting proposals through February 17, 2025, and we’d appreciate your help in spreading the word!
We look forward to seeing you in Detroit in October!
Sincerely,
Adrienne Jankens
