Dear Colleagues,
The Writing and Communication Program (WCP) at Georgia Tech is pleased to announce multiple openings for Continuing Lecturer positions as well as Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowships. We would greatly appreciate your help in sharing these opportunities with potential applicants.
About the WCP
Home to approximately 60 faculty and tutors, the WCP is an active community of teacher-scholars engaged in both campus initiatives and national conversations in English, writing, and communication. Our program is best known for:
- Multimodal First-Year Writing: A two-semester seminar-style curriculum that integrates faculty research with the development of students’ communicative abilities.
- Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship: A nationally recognized mentorship program that supports recent PhDs in developing their teaching and preparing for the next stage of their careers.
The WCP has been honored for its excellence at multiple levels, including the CCCC Writing Program Certificate of Excellence, the University System of Georgia’s Regents Award for Teaching Excellence, and Georgia Tech’s Diversity Champion Award.
Lecturer Positions
These newly created Lecturer positions strengthen our existing faculty, who teach a 3-3 load in first-year writing and technical communication. Lecturers hold faculty status at Georgia Tech, contribute to the program’s initiatives, and pursue professional development in both teaching and research. Additionally, Lectures have a promotion ladder.
Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowships
With a placement rate well above national trends, the Brittain Fellowship has a 20+ year history of preparing new PhDs for diverse career paths. Fellows teach a 3-3 load in first-year writing and technical communication while benefiting from extensive mentorship and professional development.
Georgia Tech offers an exciting academic environment, Atlanta is a fantastic place to live, and our students are truly a joy to teach! We welcome applications for both positions, and I’m happy to answer any questions. You can also contact the respective search chairs:
