Colleagues: Because of new federal legislation temporarily affecting funding allocations for external activities at the University of Sydney, the 2026 Writing Research Across Borders Conference has regrettably had to be delayed. The conference will now be held on November 30-December 3, 2026 at the University of Sydney. A call for proposals and information about accommodations, travel, and registration, as well as tourist information, will be forthcoming later this year. In the meantime, please mark your calendars for the new dates.
While not our initial choice, the new dates have a few advantages for delegates: It will not be as hot in early December, and the summer tourism “high season” (which begins in mid-December and runs through February) will not yet be in effect, making travel and accommodation costs more affordable. There will also be holiday-themed attractions and excursions available in Sydney and throughout Australia. You might even witness Santa arriving on a surfboard!
We are happy to answer any questions about this change; please write to canson and copy Susan Thomas, local conference chair, at susan.thomas
Hope to see you in Sydney in December 2026.
