Hello colleagues,
The Department of Writing & Rhetoric Studies (WRS) at the University of Utah invites applications for two career-line (full-time, non tenure-line, renewable two-year contract) positions of Assistant or Associate Professor (Lecturer) at the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) in New Songdo City, South Korea. The position begins July 1, 2025. Candidates with expertise in multilingual writing, teaching English in international contexts, or closely related fields are especially encouraged to apply. A PhD in rhetoric and/or writing studies or related terminal degree is preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience. All full-time employees are provided a health benefit plan. Housing is provided for UAC faculty members with an E-1 Korean visa. Some personal and professional travel expenses are provided by the UAC.
The successful candidates will teach 7 courses annually on a 3/4 or 4/3 (3 during the autumn semester and 4 during the spring semester or vice versa as needed). The bulk of the teaching load will be made up of required lower-division writing courses; however, there is a possibility of elective course development in Writing & Rhetoric Studies that candidates may teach depending on qualifications, need, and scheduling.
Minimum qualifications include an MA/MS in rhetoric and composition or a closely related field and a record of teaching success in relevant courses. Though we prefer a terminal degree in hand, we will consider strong candidates with an MA, MS, or M.Ed. Experience with and interest in teaching in a multilingual context is also required, and international teaching experience is preferred. Applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants should access the job listing at j.andrus.
UAC is part of a multi-university campus in New Songdo City, part of the greater Incheon metropolitan area in Northwest South Korea, approximately one hour southwest of Seoul and twenty minutes from Incheon International Airport. The decade-old campus enrolls students from Korea, the US, and several other (predominantly East and South Asian) nations; a majority of students enrolled at UAC are Korean nationals. UAC hosts several undergraduate majors, including Communication, Film and Media Arts, Engineering, Psychology, Urban Ecology, and Business. All non-language courses are conducted in English.
