Job: Teaching Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor at ECU

The Department of English at East Carolina University (http://english.ecu.edu) is seeking to fill one position with the title of Teaching Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor (depending upon qualifications) specializing in composition to begin in August 2025. This full-time non-tenure-track position is for fall and spring semesters of the 2025-2026 academic year only, with the possibility of subsequent appointments. The full-time teaching load is typically four courses per semester. Teaching will consist of face-to-face courses, with the possibility that some online courses may be assigned, depending on department and university need. Depending upon a candidate’s credentials, as well as the needs in the department, the Chair may assign other courses besides composition. Service to the university, community, and profession is expected. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications, and full-time positions include benefits.

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of and experience in teaching courses in linguistics (e.g., semantics, syntax, morphology, or phonetics/phonology). Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of and experience with online teaching and online pedagogies and technologies.
