CCCC schedules are no doubt (over)full or close to it at this point, but I wanted to make sure to invite the list to the first meeting of a brand new SIG on International Student Pathway Programs. As US-based colleges and universities over decades have sought to attract more international students, an increasing number have contracted with private companies (including INTO, Kaplan, Navitas, and Shorelight) that provide extensive datasets for targeted student recruitment and academic/social support programs on campus. Effects have been mixed. More importantly, a lot of information about these partnerships is proprietary or otherwise sensitive for the companies and the host institutions. There is a range of implications for writing scholar-teachers, since we are often highly susceptible to any changes to institutional admissions.
Of course, we’re holding this SIG at a time of extreme uncertainty across international education contexts, so please feel free to come even if you just need and want to connect with interested others!
Friday, 3:30 – 4:30 ET, 322 Baltimore Convention Center
On behalf of my colleagues Eman Elturki and Yuki Kang, I hope to see you there–
