Greetings from the TYCA Task Force on Preparing Graduate Students in English for Open-Access Teaching.
We are updating the 2016 Two-Year College English Association’s TYCA Guidelines for Preparing Teachers of English in the Two-Year College and are looking to learn more from members of our profession about their needs in relation to this topic. We have two opportunities for providing feedback we would like to share with you.
We invite you to forward this to your regional membership.
Questionnaire: We’ve designed a short questionnaire with 4 close-ended questions and 2 open-ended questions to learn more about how faculty and programs are using/have used the guidelines. Please click on this link and share your experiences and knowledge with us: https://forms.gle/qzoj9Kf7WFc9BQzb7
Listening Session: On Thursday, May 29th at 3 PM eastern (2C, 1 MT, 12 P), we will have a one hour listening session with members of the task force. We invite you to attend and prepare to engage in conversation about some of the following topics:
- How your department or program prepares (or doesn’t) prepare graduate students for open-admission teaching positions
- Your own experiences as a graduate student, job seeker, or graduate faculty member
- Your experience as a two-year college teacher-scholar, mentor, or chair helping to onboard new faculty.
To attend the session, please register here and we will send a Zoom link prior to the session.
