Dear Writing Studies Community,
We (Consuelo Salas and Jacki Fiscus-Cannaday) write as co-chairs of the CCCC 2026 Feminist Workshop to invite you to submit a statement of interest for being a speaker for this year’s workshop: Food as Intersectional Feminist Work, Resistance, Hope, and Community.
Note that any participation as a speaker in the workshop can be done in addition to another speaking role, and you will have a guaranteed spot on the 2026 CCCCs program because the Feminist Workshop is a standing group sponsored workshop.
We are hoping for a 200-word statement of interest by Tuesday, May 27th, in which you describe what your contribution might be as a speaker.
As a speaker, we would ask you to share your experiences and work in developing research, pedagogy, and/or community partnerships about feminisms and food rhetorics by participating in two of the three segments of the workshop, as outlined below.
This year, the full-day workshop will be structured in three parts:
-
The first segment will be a series of presentations, anchored by scholar-researchers and community partners. Each speaker will give a presentation about their work related to feminism(s), food, and rhetoric/writing studies. We imagine these speakers might share food-related feminist pedagogies, research projects about food that used critical and/or feminist theoretical lenses, and equitable and reciprocal community partnerships.
-
The second segment will be a Q and A panel, anchored by scholar-researchers and community partners. Panelists will provide context for the ways they have explored food in their teaching, research, and community engaged projects. Then, panelists will answer a series of questions that speak to their experience(s), collaboration(s), pain and pitfalls, surprises and benefits, and considerations they would recommend to those working in this area of research, teaching, and service.
-
The last segment will be a roundtable discussion where speakers will join participants at their tables to workshop their works-in-progress.
We hope that all speakers can commit to the last segment where they workshop with the participants. However, in your statement, we would like your input on whether you feel best suited to contribute in segment one (a 15-20 minute interactive presentation about your work) or segment two (a respondent for our Q and A panel about food-related research, community engagement, and pedagogies).
We have outlined the timeline of the potential structure below our signatures; the schedule is subject to change.
Thank you for your kind attention,
Consuelo Salas and Jacki Fiscus-Cannaday
