Apply: Xchanges journal accepting applications for technical editing team

Xchanges: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Technical Communication, Rhetoric, and Writing Across the Curriculum is seeking an assistant technical editor to join our team!

This volunteer technical editor will work remotely alongside the two co-technical editors to prepare each new issue on the Xchanges website and make other website updates throughout the year. Qualified candidates will have experience with content management systems (such as b2evolution and WordPress), HTML/CSS, web design, and digital accessibility.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • File management such as preparing PDFs of final articles and uploading them to the journal website
  • Transferring articles from documents to the website
  • Formatting articles in WYSIWYG and HTML according to journal style guide and best practices for accessibility
  • Communicating with the technical editing team to establish goals and a timeline to complete the work
  • Migrating content from the b2evolution platform to WordPress to help develop the future releases of Xchanges

We expect this position to require about 10-15 hours during each issue cycle (spread out over a couple weeks). Usually, Xchanges publishes 1 to 2 issues a year.
