Dear Writing Center colleagues:
NEWCA (Northeast Writing Centers Association) – which includes all of New England and New York – aims to hold its bi-annual 2-day conference in the spring semester of 2027 (typically held in March or April), with the intent of avoiding competition with other professional conferences taking place during those months. Specific dates will be determined at a later time. Expected participation is typically from 100-250 registrants.
The NEWCA regional organization assumes the responsibility by covering event costs. The conference host typically assumes the following duties:
- Attend all NEWCA meetings (in person and online) to stay up to date on events and planning.
- Reserve conference spaces (indoor/outdoor/parking).
- Work with institution’s conference/dining services.
- Work with institution on registration platform services.
- Organize accommodations and travel instructions for conference attendees.
- Communicate and update Steering Committee throughout the planning of the conference
- Organize a team of volunteers/workers to provide conference information, signage, directions.
- Involved in the drafting of the CFP in collaboration with the Steering Committee.
