SWCA’s HBCU MICROGRANT PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
Dear HBCU individual and institutional members,
Each year, SWCA awards up to four $200 microgrants to HBCU writing centers within the southeastern region. HBCU writing centers can use these grants to purchase resources for their writing center. We hope you’ll apply!
To be considered for a microgrant, fill out this brief application form by Friday, October 17, 2025. Recipients need to be individual or institutional SWCA members at the time funds are disbursed. If you or your center are not current members, don’t worry! Still apply. We can offer you a FREE 3-year institutional membership at the time of fund distribution so that you are eligible.
On the submission form, there is a comment box asking how you’ll use the funding. In your response, be sure to provide details about need and the resources you plan to purchase, as well as how these resources will benefit your writing center.
If your writing center receives a microgrant, you will be asked to create an Amazon wish list so that SWCA’s Treasurer can make the purchase. All supplies will be sent directly to your writing center.
If you have any questions about HBCU microgrants, please contact SWCA’s HBCU representative, Tamala (Tammy) Simmons (tsimmons1).
We look forward to reading your grant applications!
Tammy and the SWCA Board
