Responding to the need for AI-related WAC guidance, and with the support of an AWAC Research Initiative Grant, the presenters created a pedagogical approach that fostered AI literacy, metacognition, and agency development in WAC courses at UC Davis (Sperber et al., 2025). The PAIRR approach features (1) readings about AI to promote discussion, (2) paired peer review and rubric-driven AI feedback, and (3) student reflection on feedback and revision. Through funding from the California Educational Learning Lab, the presenters have expanded the project to 8 colleges. In this session, presenters will report on PAIRR’s affordances, limitations, and possible adaptations for different WAC contexts. There will also be ample opportunity for questions.

Presenters include:
Marit MacArthur, Continuing Lecturer, Writing Center, University of California, Davis
Anna Mills, Instructor, English Department, College of Marin
Sophia Minnillo, Postdoc, University Writing Program, University of California, Davis
Lisa Sperber, Continuing Lecturer, Writing Center, University of California, Davis
Carl Whithaus, Professor, University Writing Program, University of California, Davis
