Dear Colleagues,
This message is primarily for writing center practitioners, though I would also appreciate it if non-WC WPAs would forward this to WC colleagues at your institution! (I’m also sending this message to WCenter, of course.)
I am wondering if you would consider sending the message below to both undergrad and grad student tutors at your center. I’m recruiting participants for a new study on the experiences of Asian and Asian American student writing consultants at U.S. writing centers.
Thank you for considering!
Sincerely,
Jasmine Kar Tang
Hi!
My name is Jasmine Kar Tang, and I work in the Student Writing Support program at the University of Minnesota. I’m in the early stages of a research project (https://z.umn.edu/ATPflyer) on the experiences of Asian and Asian American student tutors at writing centers, and I’m recruiting research participants who are willing to do a one-hour Zoom interview with me. Participants will also be asked to complete a 5-minute questionnaire before we meet, and after the Zoom, each interviewee will receive a $25 Amazon gift card in compensation for their time.
I invite all Asian people—even those who feel like they’re on the margins of Asian or Asian American identity—to participate. This includes adoptees, international students, mixed-race folks, multigenerational Asian Americans, recent immigrants, South Asians, and more folks from Asian communities I haven’t named. In order to participate, tutors need to have worked at a writing center as a student at a U.S. college writing center for at least two full semesters within the past 12 months.
If this sounds like you, please completejkt) with any questions.
Thank you, and I can’t wait to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Jasmine
