I am recruiting a fully funded Graduate Research Assistant in the Rhetoric and Writing PhD program at Virginia Tech for the 2026-2027 academic year to work under the U.S. National Science Foundation COMPASS Center on predictive intelligence for pandemic prevention. The GRA will have the opportunity to renew or transition to other assistantships in the Rhetoric and Writing program at the conclusion of the year.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related field by Aug 2026
- Interest in community based and qualitative research
- Strong work ethic and time management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in rhetoric of health, infectious diseases, or science communication
- Experience or coursework in public health, science communication, or qualitative research methods
Students must apply for the Rhetoric and Writing PhD program at Virginia Tech to be considered. They should submit an expression of interest form to be considered for an application fee waiver.
