News: From College Composition and Communication (CCC)

Dear colleagues,

We hope that your fall term is wrapping up (or has wrapped up) nicely. At College Composition and Communication (CCC), we’re just wrapping up the work for the year and wishing you all happy holidays.

Updates

The September special issue is out! The Future of Writing: The Impact of Generative AI on Theory, Methods, and Pedagogy is finally live! This issue highlights a variety of perspectives on GenAI in composition, and includes a symposium framed by the CCC AI Taskforce (and authors of the CCC Generative AI policy)—Ira Allen, Antonio Byrd, John Gallagher, and Sherry Rankins-Robertson. The remaining symposium pieces address poignant questions about GenAI: in editing and publishing; relative to diversity, equity, and inclusion policy; and as they affect the role of the writer. We’re excited to (finally!) share this issue with you.

Generative AI policy. Relatedly, we’re also excited to share with you our finalized Generative AI Policy for writers, reviewers, and authors. We hope that this policy will provide improved clarity on our stance and how to use these tools ethically and critically as we deepen our understanding of AI’s implications on the field.

Submission guidelines. The shiny new submission guidelines are live on the CCC website! Learn about how to properly submit your manuscript, some useful tips for increasing your odds for review, and other helpful information here.

Announcements

We are accepting submissions! We are now accepting submissions for the new, shorter genres—the Profile and the Research Brief—as well as for Book Review Essays. You can read the submission guidelines of each on the Write for CCC page under “Genres.”

If you’re interested in writing for any of these genres, please query the editors at ccceditorialteam and include a brief 150-word proposal and a current, shortened CV with your email.

Review for us

We strongly believe in the peer-review process and count on reviewers to be area-specific experts capable of helping us consider, assess, and decide on submissions. We’re always looking to add to the reviewer pool to ensure authors receive the most fitting and productive feedback possible. If you’re interested in reviewing for CCC, please let us know here.

CCC Trivia

Did You Know…that the CCC article most cited by other CCC articles is the 1980 essay, Revision Strategies of Student Writers and Experienced Adult Writers” by Nancy Sommers? Keep an eye out for the February 2026 issue, which will feature a piece exploring the rich network of citations that has shaped College Composition and Communication throughout its history.
