Hello!
One of the things I love about Eli Review is that its work in feedback and revision is rooted firmly in Writing Studies scholarship. I’m leading a project in developing a framework for revision in Eli Review that is a sister to the Describe-Evaluate-Suggest framework. This framework has helped make teaching feedback more approachable and given students a mnemonic to hold onto as they work independently, and we’re hoping to do the same for coaching reflection and revision.
Oliver Cates and I are working to assemble a focused literature review to identify evidence-based frameworks and rhetorical moves related to reflection and revision. As we work toward this goal, we are seeking input from the Writing Studies community on the scholarship that is most significant to your work in teaching reflection and revision. We have our list, but we want this document, which will be available to writing teachers, to be developed by many (with credit to the contributors). To contribute to the literature review, submit to the Reflection and Revision: Resources Google Form. Eli Review will be sponsoring workshops to develop a reflection and revision heuristic, and contributors to the literature review will be among the first contacted.
Tl;dr We’re working to create a framework that supports faculty as they help students engage in reflection and revision. Contribute to the literature review, and come do good work with us.
