Apply: Seeking Managing Editor for POROI

POROI: Project on the Rhetoric of Inquiry invites expressions of interest for a Managing Editor to join the journal’s editorial leadership team.

The Managing Editor will play a central role in sustaining the journal’s editorial workflow and future development. Responsibilities include overseeing the intake of submissions, coordinating the peer-review process, tracking manuscripts through evaluation and revision, and maintaining professional communication with authors, reviewers, and copyeditors. The Managing Editor works closely with the Associate Editor and Editor to ensure consistent, timely, and rigorous editorial operations.

With several upcoming issues already planned and in development, this role focuses on maintaining continuity and supporting the journal’s next phase of growth. The workload averages approximately one hour per week, with fluctuations depending on submission volume and production cycles.

This position is intentionally structured as a leadership pathway. In the short term, the Managing Editor will gain direct experience with the journal’s editorial systems, decision-making processes, and long-range planning. The role is intended to transition into the Editorship, providing enough support in the interim to step into the position.

POROI seeks a colleague with strong organizational capacity, sound scholarly judgment, and a commitment to shaping the future of the journal. Interested colleagues are invited to submit a brief statement of interest (1–2 pages) outlining relevant experience and editorial vision, along with a current CV, to POROI editor Nathan Johnson <nathanjohnson> by March 9.
