This term appointment falls under the purview of the agreement between the University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and the collective bargaining agreement available here:

Qualifications: PhD (preferred) in English, Rhetoric & Composition, Writing Studies, or a related field. MA in applied linguistics, or a related field, or an MFA in creative writing, also considered. Two (2) years of college-level teaching experience required, with experience in first-year composition preferred. Second-language instruction certification and experience, experience teaching multilingual students, and facility with online instruction and instructional technologies will be valued in our search. Candidates must have their degree conferred by the beginning of instruction on September 25, 2023, to be eligible for employment.

Eight classes over three quarters are equivalent to a full-time (100%) position. Part-time appointments vary based on need and availability.
