Survey: Junior League Cookbooks as Memory Texts Perception Question

Hello again!

Thanks to those who have already participated in my research on community cookbooks. If you’re seeing this for the first time, my name is Ashley Beardsley, and I’m an Assistant Professor of English at Western Illinois University.

I am conducting research for a chapter in my book-length study of cooking media’s role in the twenty-first century (IRB number 008-25). The book examines community cookbooks, food radio, and cooking communities on social media.

I’ve been interviewing Junior League members and non-members about these cookbooks. Now I’m wondering:

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Junior League? How would you describe the women involved?

Email your answers to a-beardsley. All responses will be anonymized, and by responding, you agree to have your response included as a direct quote, paraphrase, or summary. The purpose of these questions is to gain a broader understanding of the perception of the Junior League as an organization.

Thanks!

-Ashley
