Job: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Technical Communication & Rhetoric

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Technical Communication and Rhetoric, with a specialization in user experience design and digital rhetoric, to begin fall 2025.

Required qualifications:

  • PhD in English, Rhetoric and Writing Studies, Technical Communication, or a related field by time of hire;
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher at the college level; and
  • A record of peer-reviewed publication that has contributed to the discipline and/or a research and publishing agenda.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Applicants who specialize in technical communication and rhetoric, with research and teaching interests that focus on user experience design, digital rhetoric, and complementary areas such as disability studies, social justice, grant writing, risk communication, and/or program administration; and
  • Applicants with administrative experience in program, department, college, university, and/or professional levels;
  • Applicants with 2 years of online teaching experience; and
  • Applicants with a record of scholarship supported by funding as evidenced by internal and/or external grants.
