Hello, all
The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is hiring a tenure-track assistant professor to direct our First-Year Writing (FYC) Program. We are seeking candidates with administrative experience in a writing program or writing center as well as working with first-generation and underrepresented student populations. The teaching load for the FYC Director is 2/1, with an additional stipend for summer work. Adjustments are made for graduate teaching. Please follow this linkfor more information and to apply for the position.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, UHD is the second-largest university in Houston and has served the educational needs of the nation’s fourth-largest city since 1974. The University is designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, a Minority-Serving Institution, and a Military Friendly School and educates approximately 14,000 students annually.
I have been at UHD for 28 years. After a long and fulfilling career, I will be retiring in May 2025. I am the chair of the search committee and would be delighted to answer any questions about UHD and/or living in Houston.
