The CPTSC Diversity Committee is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2023 CPTSC Diversity Scholarship!
Chenxing Xie, Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media Program, NCSU
Chenxing Xie is a Ph.D. candidate in the Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media Program at North Carolina State University. She received a B.A. in English from Tsinghua University and an M.S. in Technical Communication from North Carolina State University. Her research interests include technical and professional communication, rhetoric of health and medicine, intercultural communication, user experience, and social justice. She is currently conducting research on how digital activists use rhetorical strategies to promote social justice in global health risk communication. Her work has been published in journals and conference proceedings, such as the Journal of Rhetoric, Professional Communication, and Globalization, International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, and Proceedings of the ACM International Conference on Design of Communication (SIGDOC). She was also awarded first place in the Graduate Student Research Competition at the 40thACM SIGDOC.
Eric Korankye, Illinois State University
Eric Korankye is a PhD student at Illinois State University (ISU), specializing in Rhetoric and Communication in the Department of English. He earned his MSc. English (Technical Writing & Rhetorics) at ISU in 2021 after he had completed his BA English degree at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana in 2013. Before his graduate studies in the U.S., he worked as an Assistant Editor at the Parliamentary Service of Ghana. Eric is currently a Writing Instructor and the New Consultant Mentor in the ISU Writing Program. As an international scholar and teacher from Ghana, Eric is committed to designing and practicing anti-racist/oppressive pedagogies in Writing and Technical Communication spaces, towards decolonizing scholarly knowledge through research and teaching practices. He loves to be an interdisciplinary researcher, particularly focusing on social, cultural, and linguistic justice issues in the fields of Writing, Technical Communication, Rhetoric and Composition, Applied Linguistics, and Technical Editing.
