Some important things to know about the position:
-This is a faculty position with a 1/1 teaching load.
-We are recruiting faculty at the ranks of Associate and Full, and our Dean has indicated rank/title/tenure status will carry over. (And the Dean has made good on this promise with recent hires in Rhet/Comp at SIU).
-This position is housed within the College of Arts and Sciences. While we think someone in Rhet/Comp, and perhaps even specifically with a WC background, would be ideal for this position, this is open to any discipline within the humanities. Several of the search committee members are out of History, Philosophy, and Communications.
-Our Rhet/Comp program is growing fast and there is much potential for future growth! We now have 3 TT faculty members in the program, plus two full-time teaching assistant professors, and our Dean is in Rhet/Comp. We have a PhD and MA program with already a cohort established, and we are actively building undergraduate offerings in our new Public and Professional Writing concentration. If this hire does end up being in Rhet/Comp, we will have a strong program in place.
