Dear Colleagues,
The Consortium of Doctoral Programs in Rhetoric and Composition invites you to a Zoom event, “What is ‘Writing’? An Open Forum on Definitions, Directions, and Methodologies,” on Tuesday, March 25, 6:00pm-7:30pm (EST). The focus of the session will be what “writing” means (or could mean) in our discipline and how it is researched. We are interested in hearing from researchers, teachers, and graduate students about writing research. Some potential topics that might animate our small and large group conversations:
- what writing has meant and how it has been studied historically in the field
- where the study of writing is headed or should be headed
- new methods for studying writing: challenges and potential outcomes
- activist understandings of writing
We hope you will join us for this conversation in advance of CCCC in April. You’ll get a chance to talk in small groups with colleagues across the field, and we’ll then share ideas in a large group setting.

Best Wishes,
Laura
