CFP: AI and the Liberal Arts, A Symposium at Connecticut College

Connecticut College will host its inaugural AI and the Liberal Arts Symposium, October 17-19, 2025. The event will convene thought leaders, educators, and researchers to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in undergraduate liberal arts education. Together, we aim to shape the future of teaching and learning by fostering innovation, collaboration, and ethical integration of AI technologies.

We invite proposals that address one or more of the following themes:

  • AI and Pedagogy: Creative uses of AI to enhance learning in liberal arts disciplines.
  • Ethics and Equity: Navigating the ethical and societal implications of AI in education.
  • Interdisciplinary Innovations: Projects that bridge AI with traditional liberal arts fields.
  • Practical Applications: Demonstrating how AI tools are reshaping research, collaboration, or student engagement.
  • Future of Liberal Arts: Visionary perspectives on AI’s role in redefining liberal arts education.

Presentation types include:

  • Interactive workshops (60-90 minutes)
  • Panel discussions (60 minutes)
  • Individual papers & case studies (20 minutes)
  • Lightning talks (10 minutes)
  • or other innovative formats

We welcome submissions from diverse voices and encourage contributions from underrepresented groups in higher education. Presenters should consider the symposium’s interdisciplinary audience, which includes faculty, professional staff, and students.

Submission Guidelines

Submit your proposal, which will include:

  • Title of Presentation
  • Abstract: Provide a 250-word summary detailing the project or research, its relevance to the symposium’s theme, and key takeaways for participants.
  • Biography: Include a brief biography (100 words) for each presenter.
  • Session Details: Specify your preferred format (e.g., workshop, panel) and any technical or accessibility requirements.
  • Deadline: Submit proposals by June 15, 2025. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by early July.
