Hello all,
We are two writing teacher-scholars at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (Dr. Natalie Taylor) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Dr. Megan Mericle). The purpose of this research study is to understand how alternative assessment systems affect students’ writing and learning environments.
We are looking for college-level writing instructors who use alternative assessment methods (i.e., Ungrading, contract grading, labor-based grading, badging, specs grading, self-assessment) in their courses.
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to:
- Share, via email, teaching materials related to your alternative assessment system
- Participate in a 30-45 minute recorded interview on Zoom
- Distribute a survey to your students
- If available, potentially participate in a 90-minute recorded focus group with other instructor participants on Zoom
If you’re interested in participating, please take a moment to fill out this brief form with your name and contact information: http://tinyurl.com/altassessmentresearch. Thank you for your consideration!
Best,
Megan & Natalie
