South Louisiana Community College is pleased to host the October 2025 annual conference of TYCA-Southwest.

Conference Theme: Beyond Buzzwords: Meeting Our Students Where They Are

Website for information, proposals, and contact, here

Dates: Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025

Format: Virtual (Webex), including two presentation options

Background:

As educators, we are always looking to incorporate the newest trends in teaching into our classrooms, but how do we dive below the surface of buzzwords and genuinely reach our students? It is precisely this question that we are hoping to explore.

Discussions surrounding artificial intelligence, metacognition, and other current trends run the risk of remaining abstract and ambiguous; therefore, we are asking for practical presentations that share strategies, assignments, and your learning or research that reflects popular, timely, or enduring concepts in pedagogy. We are seeking enthusiastic presenters who are interested in hands-on and research-based approaches to implementing teaching and learning in the classroom. Let’s share how we reach students where they are.
